* Custom creations and their stories*

We would love to custom design a creation for you!

Anything can be custom made with our material or yours.
Maybe you have a piece of vintage furniture that has been in your family and has been forgotten? Maybe you have a barn or building coming down and you would like to preserve the memory of it? Let us design something just perfect for yourself or someone special. We make creations that are memorable and meaningful.

Still not getting the vision? Here are some examples.

This is the custom jewelry I made for the Ty, Paige & Paulie from Extreme Makeover

I was blessed to have the opportunity to present it to them when Extreme Home Makeover came to my home town of Erie, Pa in July of 2009.
I custom made this special creation for Ty. Knowing his love for turning old
things into new creations I chose to used reclaimed Bloodwood, which I found on an old pallet in Erie. I inscribed the pendant with "ERIE" on the back. I combined the wood pendant with reclaimed seed and wooden beads and included local Lake Erie Beach glass to make it a special remembrance
from his stop here in Erie.

For Paige,  I custom made a purple heart pendant with "ERIE" inscribed on the back.

I also include a special piece of Pink beach glass and an ornate bail to show it off. I put it on a sterling silver chain thinking that Paige might like that. Well, she loved the necklace but little did I know she was allergic to sterling silver. I saw the necklace on her on one of the shows but it looked like it was on a different cord. I wrote to her on my face book, to tell her my family was thrilled she wore the necklace on the show and what an example that was for my children. For my children to see me follow through with something I felt led to do despite what others would say or even the odds I would be able to get it to them was awesome. Then for Paige to actually wear it on the show showed them what can happen. Paige wrote back the following.

Paige Hemmis December 3, 2009 at 9:48pm

Awww! Thank YOU! I did move it to a leather chain cord - I'm pretty much allergic to everything else.
But I LOVE the necklace and wear it often, so thank you so much! :)

How awesome is that? Thanks Paige!

For Paulie it was a little more difficult.
I must have looked through hundreds of photographs to see what particular style of jewelry that he might wear. I could not find one picture with any other jewelry on other than his wedding ring. So I had to be creative. Knowing Paulie loves unique varieties of wood I decided to use Red palm from the island of Dominica. With the Red palm I created a pair of earrings for him to bring back to his wife when he returned home from our Extreme event. I had the perfect opportunity when he came down to the tent to eat as he always sat with the volunteers for meals. When I told him what I do and that I made him something he sincerely felt bad in saying " I am so sorry I don't wear anything but my wedding ring". I replied "Yes, I had figured that out so I made something for your wife". He genuinely seemed astonished that I would think to do that. We talked about the unique wood and he thanked me. Great guy!

A non functional vintage heirloom crib brought back to life
in 13 new custom and meaningful gifts.

I received a phone call after an article ran in our local news paper.
The woman on the other end told me she had a 61 year old crib and wondered if there was anything I ,might be able to make out of it for gifts for her sisters. Later she decided she might like something for her husband and then as Christmas approached she wondered if I might be able to make something for her grandchildren as well. This crib was the family crib that her and her sisters were in as children. It sat in a bag  tucked in the corned of her husbands shop for years.  What an honor for me to be able to take this heirloom of theirs and make them each special functional gifts to enjoy for years to come.

This Custom order was for a Daughter to her Mother.

An 89 year old woman had to move out of her house in 2007 .
The house where her family had lived since it was built in 1945.
She was a special woman who served in WWII as well as in Africa and Italy as an Army nurse.
When her daughter cleaned out her house they kept some of the original crown molding and floor boards. She saw me and my concept on a television special
and contacted me. We discussed her wanting to surprise her mother for Christmas with a memorable and meaningful gift. She had hoped in some way that she would be able to preserve a piece of her home, that she had lived in for so many years. We met and discussed a customized jewelry set that would fit her mothers personality. Pictured to the left you can see
the original crown molding and the finished jewelry set
that was created for her. Her daughter was so happy that her mother will be able to keep with her a memory of the house that she loved so much.

This order was done for a client who is in the entertainment business in  California.

I was originally contacted by this gentleman after he saw the coverage of my business on CNN.
Then at Christmas time he inquired about getting something for his two daughters and possibly for his wife as well.  He had visited my web-siteand showed interest in a couple of pieces and asked what I thought of them. After seeing the photograph that he had sent me of his wife and two adult daughters, I wasn't sure the items he had chose were a fit for them. I asked him if I could think about his gift and get back to him. After prayer and meditation
(of which I do with all my creations) I got an idea.I would make each of them a similar necklace however, I wanted each to be unique with different exotic wood.  Here you will see the three similar necklaces made with Zebra wood, Bloodwood and Red Palm wood. The similarity, signifying a connection  to each other.
The variety of exotic wood, signifying the uniqueness of
appearance and personality of each one of them
.

This is a custom order I did for a Mother to her Daughter.

While doing a local art exhibit, a woman approached me inquiring if I make custom jewelry.
We began to talk about her story and I was definitely interested.
She explained to me how she wanted to give her daughter something special with a very important meaning. She had already got her daughter a purity ring and wanted a necklace to match it in some way. She was drawn to one of the century old knot pendants.
She began telling me why, explaining how she liked the representation of strength and endurance, relating it to purity for her daughter.
I was touched by her vision. While creating this custom piece I pondered on a verse.

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in live, in faith, in purity. 1Timothy4:2 NIV

I put this verse in her gift box with the necklace.
I was excited to be a part of this and I told her I would love to hear back from her
after she gives the necklace to her daughter.
A few months later I received an e-mail. Click here to read the e-mail

Companies and Small businesses

Do you or does your business have a piece of something of personal or historical value? It could be wood, glass, stone, pieces of pottery.....
 The possibilities are endless!

This is how I worked with a business to preserve wood from
their winery dated back to 1864

The owners of this winery approached me in regards to some wood that they had salvaged
from an one of the first wine companies in the county.
We met and discussed what their vision was and I was able to see
first hand where the wood originated from.
I was able to see where people have wedding receptions and various special gatherings
 in this beautifully renovated establishment.
After being inspired by the tour of the original wine company and
actually acquiring the wood, I was able to begin to create their collection.
Upon finishing the pendants I began searching for something unique
to make creations from the vineyard collection set apart from the rest of my collections.
The special order sterling clasps I was able to find really pulled this collection together.
I was pleased to announce, in the fall of 2008, the completed of this limited collection of
these unique and memorable creations. A few pieces of this collection can be seen below.

What an opportunity to be able to have a meaningful piece of jewelry to
remember a wine tasting or special event at this winery.
I was honored to be a part of this endeavor.
